Ongoing Dog Training Classes in Ackworth, Wakefield

Has your dog completed puppy training and you're wondering what comes next?

Saturday Skills Club is an ongoing weekly dog training class designed for dogs who have completed puppy training or already have a solid foundation in basic skills and are ready to continue progressing.

These fun and supportive group sessions provide ongoing training, guidance and real-life practice in a structured environment, helping you and your dog build confidence, improve reliability and strengthen your training partnership.

Whether you'd like to improve your dog's focus around distractions, develop a more reliable recall, build impulse control or simply continue your training journey, Saturday Skills Club offers the perfect opportunity to keep learning together.

Continue Building Real-life Skills

Training doesn't stop when puppy classes end.

Dogs, just like people, benefit from ongoing learning and regular practice. Saturday Skills Club is designed to help you maintain and develop your dog's skills while introducing new challenges to keep training engaging and rewarding.

Each week we focus on practical skills that can help make everyday life easier while improving communication between you and your dog.

We'll work on areas such as:

✔ Reliable recall

✔ Focus and engagement around distractions

✔ Loose lead walking

✔ Impulse control

✔ Confidence building

✔ Advanced obedience skills

✔ Real-life training scenarios

✔ Trick training

✔ Scent work and enrichment activities

✔ Problem-solving and training games

Because this is an ongoing club rather than a structured course, training topics vary from week to week, ensuring sessions remain fresh, enjoyable and beneficial for both dogs and owners.

Is Saturday Skills Club Right For My Dog?

This class is suitable for dogs who have completed puppy training or have an existing foundation of basic training skills.

Your dog does not need perfect obedience, but they should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • A developing recall in low-distraction environments

  • The ability to offer a sit or down for short durations

  • Walking on lead without excessive pulling in calmer environments

  • The ability to focus on their handler around mild distractions

The purpose of the club is to help you improve and strengthen these skills over time, not to expect perfection from the start.

If you're unsure whether this class is suitable for your dog, please get in touch and I'll be happy to advise.
